New team and new look for Eltham Wimpy

By | November 8, 2021

Wimpy Eltham reopened its doors on Wednesday (November 3) with a brand-new look and a new management team at the helm.

Experienced Wimpy franchisee and chef Nico Sokoli took over the restaurant in September, bringing it into a group of three other Wimpys he already owns in Welling, Orpington and Strood.

His first priority was a major makeover, introducing the bright new styles and colours of Wimpy’s latest SHIFT interior design, and he has strengthened his team of chefs and waiters to ensure customers receive the best possible service.

“Eltham is a vibrant, busy community and I’ve been thrilled at the welcome that we’ve already received while our full refurbishment programme has been going on,” said Nico, who plans to run Wimpy Eltham himself.

“We have kept on a number of the existing staff but also been able to offer additional jobs as well, so when customers come back they will see some familiar faces and some new ones too. Many of the staff are local and are very proud of the area they live and work in and we’ve invested a substantial sum into this project, spending money on new equipment, new décor and staff training to ensure this Wimpy is as successful as our other three.”

The High Street restaurant now has a different layout, including booth-style seating, new tables and chairs, bright colours and fresh artwork on the walls.

Speaking just before the opening, Nico added: “We will certainly look different, but what customers will still enjoy is the same retro, nostalgic feeling of dining at Wimpy. Everyone has been so friendly, we can’t wait to welcome them through the doors with open arms and enable them to enjoy delicious freshly-cooked Wimpy classic dishes served at their table.”

Chris Woolfenden, Wimpy’s General Manager, who visited the restaurant on opening day, said: “Nico and his team have done an amazing job. Everything looks fantastic and the response from customers and the local community has been brilliant. We wish him and his team every success and are so proud of what they have already achieved.”

The restaurant is open seven days a week and will also be offering home delivery via JustEat, Ubereats and Deliveroo, as well as a takeaway service.
